Who Is Save The Waterfront?

We'd like to thank the following incredible volunteers who are Save The Waterfront!

Alicia Wills, Bill Craven, Brian Sarni, Deborah Wessell, Jane Bright, Jeff Culver, Joy Patterson, Katie Harris, Kim Gardner, Lisa Adam, Lucas vant Hoog, Michael Chrzastowski, Nancy Barga, Nathan Lowe, Rebecca Craven, Sarah Gardner, Steve Bieler, Tsena Paulson, and Vince Tisovec.

Who are they?

  • Rebecca Craven offered experience, insight, and research all with incredible calm as things heated up.

  • Luke vant Hoog stepped in with a quiet hand to help organize the group, research and write the needed papers, and consistently spoke to businesses and leadership.

  • Sarah Gardner helped organize and create Save the Waterfront. Along with stepping in on all needed tasks, she wrote the Whatcom Democrats Resolution against the Shredder. She is also the President of the Birchwood Neighborhood Association

  • Alicia Wills took on the huge task of Outreach. Organizing everything from collecting signatures at the Farmers Market to delivering many of the signs you see around town. Along with Save the Waterfront she continues to work and build a neighborhood group in Alderwood.

  • Bill Craven, along with research, was the author of many important articles seen in local newspapers about the issues of the Metal Pile and Shredder.

  • Lisa Adam and Brian Sarni visited other Industrial Metal Shredders, spoke with employees of how bad they are for the local community, delivered signs, got signatures, and attended many Port Commissioner meetings to voice the community’s concerns about the Metal Pile and Shredder.

  • Jane Bright, with incredible experience from other polluting campaigns on the East Coast, helped with research and offered a steady voice, always willing to step up when needed.

  • Kim Gardner and Vince Tisovec were our eyes in the sky over the metal pile. With a home near by, and overlooking the monstrous piles they helped us understand how bad the piles were to the air, water and residents all while organizing their building to speak out against the pile.

  • Scott Jones founded Save the Waterfront. Originally coordinating a small group from the South Hill Neighborhood due to the noise of the metal pile, Save The Waterfront was born after we figured out that the dangers were far greater than night time noise, and a coordinated effort would be needed.

We'll be adding more bios soon.
