With the Metal Pile in our rear view mirror, our focus is fully on the dangerous Metal Shredder in Alderwood.
We expect the County will soon begin the Environmental Impact Statement Scoping process, and our attorney will have an extensive amount of work to accomplish.
During Scoping, we will make sure that the environmental mitigation requirements are robust, and in the end able to keep the residents of Bellingham and the local environment safe.
Our research of other Shredder’s show, that the technology to keep us safe do not exist at a price point that will allow the Shredder to be built.
This is why the scoping process is so incredibly important. It is the first step in stopping the Shredder completely.

How will the funds be used?
Our legal avenues at the Metal Shredder are very different than at the Metal Pile.
Metal Shredder – As the project goes through permitting, there are complex steps along the way. To win this fight, these steps are far more challenging than volunteers can accomplish alone, especially without the knowledge and experience of our attorneys. The application process, environmental permitting, hearing examiner, Planning Department, and finally the County Council will all be places where well placed legal expertise will win the day.
