The County Council needs to hear from you, instead of only the paid Heavy Industrial lobbyists. You can email the County Council at:

Ask them to keep and strengthen Amendment 2U-9 which simply states:
Review and evaluate the benefits and costs of industrial zoning within the Bellingham UGA, particularly in the Alderwood neighborhood, and consider rezoning High Impact Industrial (HII) designated properties to Low Impact Industrial (LII).
Although Ken Bell has been replaced, Michael Shepard and Bobbie Briscoe, both instrumental in bringing the ABC Recycling fiasco to our shores, are still Port Commissioners, and still making grevious mistakes.
The City of Bellingham Waterfront Sub-Area Plan has been accepted by the community as the master plan for the area. It is a multi decade plan, and if implemented as agreed by the community a Waterfront area that will be worth Billions of dollars to our economy and will bring thousands of jobs to our community.
We are deeply concerned that under their leadership, more horrible mistakes will be tacked onto ones they are already responsible for:
* ABC Recycling - 25 year lease with toxic pollution
* Harcourt - The two chose Harcourt over other highly able applicants, putting the first development on the Waterfront at risk of failure
Note: Michael Shepard expects the community to thank him for his horrendous decisions while on the Port Commission by electing him to be our local representative in the State Senate. We highly recommend a strong no vote.
